1. What Falose is, and is not

Falose is an information service about packaged food sold in India. We collect what is printed on food labels (nutrition per 100 g or 100 ml, ingredients in label order, additives, claims, licence numbers), organise it, compute a score from it by a published formula, and show it beside reference intakes published by bodies such as the WHO, ICMR-NIN, FSSAI and EFSA.

Falose is not a laboratory, not a regulator, not a doctor, not a dietitian, not a retailer and not a food business. We do not test products. We do not certify them. We do not sell them. We do not make health claims about them.

2. Not medical advice, ever

Nothing on the Service is medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and nothing creates a doctor–patient relationship. That includes scores, spoons, flags, lenses for a life stage or condition, the weekly note, the household profiles, the receipts, the reels and anything the assistant says. The Service reports label facts and public reference limits. What you eat is your decision, made with a doctor or registered dietitian if you have a condition, an allergy, or are pregnant or nursing.

Never rely on the Service for allergy safety. Formulations change without notice and our data can lag the shelf. Read the physical pack every time.

Household profiles let you describe other people in your home. You may only enter facts about another adult with their permission, and about a child only if you are that child's parent or lawful guardian.

3. Scores, spoons and receipts are reasoned opinions on label data

A Falose score is computed mechanically from the nutrition values on a product's label, per 100 g or ml, and the additives it lists, using the formula published in full at falose.com/methodology. The same formula applies to every product. No score is changed for money, for a relationship, or because of who submitted the data. Our rules for this are published at falose.com/rules and are part of these terms.

A score is our good-faith, methodology-driven opinion about label data. It is not a statement that a product is unsafe, illegal, adulterated or mislabelled, and not a statement about any company's character. "Spoons" convert grams to level teaspoons (4 g sugar, 6 g salt, 4.5 g oil) as a unit of measure, nothing more.

Where a receipt or reel places a front-of-pack claim beside a label fact, both are quoted from the pack. We do not characterise the difference; we print it.

4. Where the data comes from, and how fresh it is

Label data comes from (a) photographs of packs taken by us or by people using the Service, (b) data submitted by the brand through the brand portal, (c) public web pages of retailers and manufacturers, read by an AI model and marked "unverified" until a person at Falose checks them, and (d) the Open Food Facts database. Every record shows its source and the date the label was read. The AI and Data Sources Notice explains (c) in detail.

A label is an observation on a date, not a permanent truth. Manufacturers reformulate; packs differ by region and batch. We run plausibility checks and quarantine suspicious data, but we cannot guarantee that any value is current, complete or error-free. The printed pack in your hand always wins over the Service.

If you believe a record is wrong, use "Report" on the product page or write to us. The Content and Corrections Policy says what happens next and how quickly.

5. Your account, your age

The Service is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account, and you confirm this at sign-up. We do not knowingly provide accounts to anyone under 18 and we delete any we discover. A parent or guardian may describe a child in a household profile on their own adult account.

Keep your credentials secret. You are responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us at once if you believe it has been compromised.

6. What you contribute, and the licence you give us

You may contribute pack photographs, product reports, reviews, taste votes, kitchen lists and consumption logs. Photographs and reviews must be your own, honest, lawful, and free of abuse, spam and knowingly false claims.

For pack photographs and reviews you grant Falose a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, sublicensable licence to store, reproduce, adapt (including cropping, background removal and rendering as a one-bit "receipt" print), publish and display them on the Service and in Falose's own materials, including social media, for the purpose of describing, scoring and explaining packaged food. You may ask us to stop using a photograph you took; we will remove it from public view within 7 days, keeping only what is needed as evidence for a number already published.

You warrant that you took any photograph you upload and that it shows a pack you lawfully possess. Do not upload photographs of people.

For content contributed by others we act as an intermediary under the Information Technology Act 2000. We do not pre-screen reviews. We remove content that breaks these terms or the law when we become aware of it, and we act on court and government orders as the law requires.

7. Acceptable use

You must not: scrape or bulk-extract the database or the API; probe, disrupt or overload the Service; bypass rate limits or access controls; misrepresent your identity or affiliation; submit knowingly false product data, reports, reviews or taste votes; use the Service to harass any person or company; or use our data to train a model without written permission.

Label facts are facts and belong to nobody. Our compilation, our score, our text and our design are ours; see section 9.

8. Brands, distributors and the dashboard

Companies may register on the brand portal under the Brand and Distributor Terms. Every company gets the same dashboard on the same terms. Nothing a company does or pays changes a score or the order of any list. Companies see shoppers only as aggregates of twenty or more, never individually, and never anything from a health profile.

9. Names, marks and copyright

Product and company names, logos and pack images appear on the Service only to identify the product being described, as the Trade Marks Act 1999 permits. Their appearance implies no affiliation with, or endorsement by or of, Falose. Pack artwork is quoted for the purpose of reporting and reviewing the product, as fair dealing under section 52 of the Copyright Act 1957. A rights holder who believes a specific use goes beyond this may write to the Grievance Officer; we act within 7 days.

The Falose name, the receipt design, the scoring formula's expression, our explainers and our software are protected by copyright and other rights. Label facts themselves are not ours and you may quote them freely with attribution.

10. Falose does not sell

Falose sells nothing and takes no payment from shoppers. No order can be placed, no product ships and no payment is collected or processed anywhere on the Service. Prices shown are the printed MRP or a stated seller price, quoted as label facts for comparison. Falose is not an e-commerce entity under the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules 2020.

11. Provided as is

To the fullest extent the law allows, the Service is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted operation. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the Service at any time.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Falose and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for any loss arising from reliance on the Service, including dietary or health decisions, allergic reactions, or commercial loss claimed to result from a score, a receipt, a reel or a listing. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to ₹1,000 or the amount you paid us in the preceding 12 months, whichever is greater. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

13. Indemnity

You will indemnify Falose and its operators against claims, losses and costs arising from your breach of these terms, from content you contribute, or from your misuse of the Service.

14. Ending things

You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your account and all its data yourself from your profile. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, after notice where practicable. Sections 3, 6 (licence for content already published), 9, 12, 13 and 15 survive.

15. Law, courts and changes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts at Mumbai, Maharashtra have exclusive jurisdiction, without prejudice to your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 2019 to approach a consumer forum where you live.

When we change these terms materially we raise the version number, change the date, and ask you to accept the new version the next time you sign in. Your acceptance is recorded with the version and the time. Continued use without accepting is not treated as acceptance.

16. Contact and grievances

Grievance Officer: Mihir Panchal, grievance@falose.com. We acknowledge every complaint within 24 hours and resolve it within 15 days, as the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines) Rules 2021 require. If you are not satisfied, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India for personal-data matters or a consumer forum for others.
